Abstract

Every year, on 5th April, the Spanish Faculties of Economics and Business Sciences celebrate the feast of their Patron Saint, San Vicente Ferrer. However, the life and works of San Vicente, and the reasons why he was proclaimed the Patron Saint of this academic area are widely unknown. This article endeavours to remedy this lack of knowledge, and to this end notes are given with respect to who proclaimed San Vicente Patron Saint of all students of Economics and Business Sciences and when, as well as details of his biography, his activity and opinions with respect to the politics and economics of his time. All of this will help us to reflect on the suitability of his having been proclaimed Patron Saint of all students of Economics and Business Sciences.
