La minusvalía psíquica: implicaciones éticas
Main Article Content
Abstract
In our society today the non–fulfilment of the requirements of the majority is already a limitation that not infrequently leads to exclusion or segregation. In an environment in which usefulness, efficiency and productivity are paramount, almost entirely in economic terms, to pay attention to any kind of handicap can be considered as a temerity. In this article professor López Azpitarte pledges himself to overcoming this rejection of what is different and to understanding the mentally handicapped, not from the limitations of their difference, but as whole persons, with all the dignity and richness contained within them, but conditioned by some mental pathology. From this stance, inspiring ethical reflections are presented on matters that society not infrequently tries to ignore in the case of the mentally handicapped, such as their relationship with sexuality and marriage.
