Which attitudes, which culture and which faith for social change?

Main Article Content

Joaquín García Roca

Abstract

With his usual humane and Christian depth and his long experience accumulated in close contact with young social misfits in Valencia, the author points to four standpoints that would be convenient today to ensure real social change:”to be” on the side of those who suffer, to be as close and vigilant as a lookout in his tower; “to speak out” bravely, pronouncing the defiant word that reveals how truth is being disguised; “acknowledge” the mortification of victims whose dignity is trampled on in acts of denigration and humilliation, much deeper than appearances; “connect” with others, helping them to form real networks of social resistence. We are talking about paths or standpoints which must be worked at humbly, with perseverance, as it is no easy task to satisfy all their needs at the same time and to the same extent.
