Reasons for implementing an evaluation system in the NGODs and its consequences
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article aims to expose the main reasons why the NGODs should carry out a systematic evaluation of their activities, as an exceptional instrument for knowledge and learning development, that could be used for the continuous improvement of their effectiveness and efficiency levels in their projects and programs as well as for the materials used in their campaigns to raise public awareness and political pressure in favour of a better cooperation for development focused on the poor. Once the decision of evaluating has been taken, the article exposes the possible consequences that could affect NGODs at four different levels: its own identity, its internal organisation, its budgets and its human resources. The main conclusion is that the evaluation should lead to a continuous improvement and that there are not improvement without change. Changing on the basis of a good and/or a bad performance pointed out through evaluation is a challenge that the NGODs should not postpone any longer.
