Abstract

The recent and renovated interest for public questions coincides with the special place that the political action is finding in the Christian world. The explicit and lasting commitment of many Christians in the processes of social transformation and in the cooperation for development projects is parallel to the ever–rising renovation for another possible world, as it is shown in the evangelical Catholicism. And so, this is the theme of the editorial. When reflecting on the political action and the behaviour of the Catholics in Spain, since we aim to offer a reflection applied to our current Spanish situation: the real relationship between political parties and the Catholicism and the presence and action of the Catholic in the political field. After analysing some signs of our time and the budgets which we start from when considering the subject, the editorial deals with the different ways the Christians approach politics and tries out a typology of them. Then, the relationships between the Christian world and three areas of the political action in Spain are analysed: left, right and nationalisms. Finally, some criteria for the action of the Catholic in the political field are proposed. We believe that the Christians should be present in the political world promoting the commitment of justice, which requires a time and space for becoming ecclesiastical subjects, qualified at a personal and at a community level for the evangelical commitment. This is one of the current challenges set out for the Christian world regarding the political action.
