Abstract

On earlier occasions our review has published various editorial reflections aimed at taking a critical look at the outcome of the economic policies on the part of different governments. With general elections on the near horizon, and the end of the cycle with President Aznar as protagonist, we consider it appropriate to analyse the economic policy of his governments from 1996 to the present. Starting out from the significant inheritance received from former socialist governments, we review the results that reflect the different aspects of Spanish economy as well as the most important political economic measures that have partly or totally conditioned them. Finally, we offer certain elements of ethical consideration that, together with the former analysis, we trust will help our readers make their own critical evaluation.
