Effects of the fifth enlargement of the European Union

Abstract

On the first of May this year the fifth enlargement of the European Union took place. The Czech and Slovak Republics, Slovenia, Estonia, Hungary, Letonia, Malta and Poland became members of the European club. The consequences of this event have been wide–spread for all concerned. This article endeavours to explore and quantify the effects that this enlargement of the EU has had on all the members countries.
