Abstract
On this occasion we have decided to focus our editorial on a problem that, far from being circumstantial, affects the very structure of our economic situation. We endeavour to offer a coherent explanation for the recent evolution of oil prices, which cannot be understood without dipping into aspects related to offer and demand. We will look especially at the latest events marked by world–wide tendencies that are unlikely to change direction in the near future. Finally we dedicate a brief coverage to an analysis of the influence of oil on macro–economics, on wars and on ecology. We conclude with a decalogue that may help to synthesise the most important phenomena of this problem.
