Abstract

As its name suggests, this article constitutes a comment to the previous paper. It provides some critical reflections about the opinions upheld by Bridsall, Rodrik and Subramanian in connection with the debate on the importance of commercial liberalization and international aid for the development of poor countries. Starting from certain consensus around some basic ideas, some of the statements of the authors are qualified and corrected, and, above all, a series of key factors for this development, which they have not sufficiently taken into account, are enumerated. The paper ends with some reflections for the NGODs.
