Church and Public Life: An Open Debate
Main Article Content
Abstract
Relationships between Church and modern society have been involved, since its first faltering words, in no few difficulties. Going into this process in more depth permits to understand not only conflict points but also progress lines. The article adheres to what has happened with Church in the occidental world, which is no valid for other cultural contexts, and pays attention to how the official doctrine of Church has been elaborated. Ecclesiastical praxis, which is not studied here, is the real substratum that must be assumed, and without which all this doctrinal elaboration would be inconceivable.
