Relationship between religion and society in John Rawls: A comparison with the doctrine of Vatican II Concile

Abstract
Este artículo estudia la compatibilidad de John Rawls con la visión del pensamiento social católico sobre la libertad religiosa. Primeramente distingue las fases del pensamiento de Rawls a lo largo de su vida siguiendo la postura expresada en sus diferentes obras. Se puede así apreciar una progresiva apertura a la contribución de la religión a la vida pública. Posteriormente introduce la posición católica por medio del documento del Vaticano II Dignitatis humanae. La comparación de ambas posturas revela que existe una compatibilidad práctica entre las dos, pero a la vez revela también la existencia de diferencias producto de las distintas antropologías implícitas. Éstas son la causa de una tensión entre ambas posiciones que tiende a distanciarlas.
