Abstract

Democracy as a political system to serve all is at present object to criticism not only in terms of its legitimacy, but also by the forms of its exercise. No one seems to doubt that the democratic system is the best way of institutionalization of power and participation in the service of the common good, although they will discuss the foundations and forms of its exercise. At the same time there is a progressive and widespread disaffection toward the political actors, especially the ruling elites. After an initial diagnosis, in this comment we focus on the current revision of the democratic consensus and rehearse a proposal for deliberative intensification of citizens in the democratic reconstruction in serving of the common good of an advanced society; the ethical commitment of everyone through the exercise of civic virtues and the formulation and retrieval of common projects are conclusive proposals.
