An essay on Laudato si' and its contribution to environmental awareness
Main Article Content
Abstract
It is worth noting that in a context like today’s, where big identities are in crisis and small, exclusive and adaptive identities predominate, there is a glimpse of a new identity under construction, built around values related to the environment. It is more universalist, inclusive and stable in comparison and allows a series of shared values to be defined, which enable citizens to model and express their individual as well as collective behavior. This is precisely what the encyclical Laudato si’ by Pope Francis is about. The focus of this paper is to analyze said encyclical and to value its contribution to citizens’ environmental awareness and the construction of new shared values relating to environmental issues.
