Laudato si : the cry of the earth and the cry or the poor. A more than ecological encyclical.
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper is intended to be an invitation for the reading of the first social encyclical of Pope Francisco. To this end, it provides an overview, which comprises two parts. The first part concerns the presentation of the content of each chapter, highlighting the main ideas and the linkage between successive chapters. The second part of the paper contributes six key elements for understanding the encyclical, and highlights some particularly relevant aspects. It can be concluded that the claim that it is an ecological encyclical only makes sense if we think of an integral ecology. The article ends by offering some of the responses to the pontifical document, especially some dissenting voices inside and outside the Church.
