Abstract

Although relations between the Church and the State involve a multitude and variety of nuances and issues arising from the historical contingencies of everyday life, it is possible to capture, as if in a snapshot, a moment in the process of these relations, at a specific period in history and in a specific geographical context. The Spanish Concordat of 1953 and the Spanish Church-State Agreements of 1976 and 1979 can represent that snapshot as a portrait of the historical evolution of relations between the religious community and the political community in Spain.
