Abstract

This document analyzes, from a philosophical perspective and from the various perspectives that can be found today in the approaches of a Christian philosopher, from his most influential and widespread doubts and perplexities, the type of solutions, demands, or clarifications offered by the encyclical Faith and Reason. This document could be considered a theory of the relationship between faith and reason, as its title suggests; and this is undoubtedly one of the first possible readings, which implies a review of the history of the relationship between philosophy and theology or Church doctrine, a history of mutual influences, services, oppositions, etc. But this encyclical also offers a critical view of modern thought, both Christian and non-Christian, an analysis of the contributions of philosophy to theology as well as the problems that philosophy poses for faith.
