The equation of dedication to the common good
Main Article Content
Abstract
An explanation of Christian dedication is presented based on a mathematical model of cooperation from evolutionary biology. An analogy is drawn between the elements of the equation (relationship, benefit and cost) and certain aspects of Christian life (fraternity, salvation and sacrifice). From this perspective, Christian dedication is examined in three dimensions: spiritual (evangelization), charitable (works of mercy) and social (transformation of the world). The model shows that Christian engagement is strengthened when the value of fraternity and the message is increased and, at the same time, sacrifice is decreased when it is interpreted in the ligth of love.
