Abstract
The year 2002 marked a century since the solemn inauguration of the Cartuja Observatory on the grounds of the Faculty of Philosophy and Theology of the Society of Jesus in Cartuja, Granada, on 6 June 1902. Juan de la Cruz Granero (1849-1917), who had conceived the idea of an observatory that would contribute to the scientific training of Jesuit students.
