Biblical notes on poverty
Main Article Content
Abstract
The reader will find in this article by Professor Emeritus José Vílchez, of the Faculty of Theology of Granada, the possibility of approaching a common thread present in Scripture: the motto of poverty. Both the Old and New Testaments provide suggestions that are not to be underestimated in the midst of an economistic culture such as the contemporary one. Some think that feelings of social justice and human solidarity are a recent conquest of our civilisation, in contrast to the barbarism of times past. The article argues that a quick overview of Scripture points to the contrary.
