What can we know about the death of Jesus? Sources and historical data

Main Article Content

Abstract

The question of the historical reality that underlies the Gospel accounts runs throughout this article, in which the author wonders about the reliable historical data surrounding the death of Jesus. To this end, Daniel Guerrero presents the sources, both biblical and extra-biblical. Using a "phenomenological" method, the author comes to the conclusion that the extra-biblical sources never go beyond what is offered by the study of the Gospel sources; with this, however, while reducing the importance given to the theological baggage of the Gospels, he also accepts the difficulty that exists in approaching the figure of Jesus of Nazareth historically.
