The History of the Pontifical Biblical Commission. A Sign of the Times

Abstract
The Pontifical Biblical Commission is an institution founded by Leo XIII to look after the Bible and the work of investigation done by catholic exegetes. Its eventful life is a good expression of the performance of Theology during the XX century and of the Catholic Church itself. The history of this institution is studied in this article. The Pontifical Biblical Commission carries out its workquietly and concealed but has become a first class consultant organ of the Magisterium.
