Abstract

Dogmatic theology no excluding other sources will always have in the exegesis a privileged source, but neither this can stay in an exegesis historical-descriptive, nor that in the systematic speculation realm. Theology and Scripture form a system in a sort of living organism, where there is an unceasing flux of energy between them and towards the exterior. In the Bible we have little material in quantity about Mary, but there is a lot of it in quality. Besides certain sentences of the NT referring to Mary, sink its roots in the OT and thus it’s possible to see her foreshadowed in the OT. The so called Marian passages of both Testaments may assume in no few occasions new meanings. If we examine them deeply we realize that through them we come to a wider reality always linked to the Revelation of the same God and his saving Plan.
