Approach to conscientious objection in the healthcare field
Main Article Content
Abstract
Conscientious objection is a quite modern figure, though there are precedents in history which could be considered as its culture medium. It must be situated in a context of exaltation of the autonomous Ego and the conflict of rights, which is derived from it at the interior of societies morally plural, with moral and personal maturity “out in the open.” Conflicts also have to do with the division of morality in two spheres of influence, private and public, irreconcilable or antagonistic. Within the field of sanitary activity, the revitalization of the professional ethics, in general, and the medical ethics, in particular, likewise the reformulation of the new objectives of medicine and the new understanding of health, are giving rise to the fact that the objection may incorporate nuances of extraordinary novelty.
