Iconographic and theological reading of the main altarpiece of the former college of the Society of Jesus in Granada

Abstract
Halfway through the XVIth century, the Society of Jesus settles in Granada (Spain), with a pastoral mission characterized by the instauration of the teachings and the anti-Reformism born out of the Council of Trent. On this epoch one of the best catechesis for the plain people is to mirror on the art the theological truths of the faith, because of this, when it builds the San Pablo College, the church and its main altarpiece express a whole theology in depth, intended to instruct people, who on its largest part was illiterate.
