Abstract

Halfway through the XVIth century, the Society of Jesus settles in Granada (Spain), with a pastoral mission characterized by the instauration of the teachings and the anti-Reformism born out of the Council of Trent. On this epoch one of the best catechesis for the plain people is to mirror on the art the theological  truths of the faith, because of this, when it builds the San Pablo College, the church and its main altarpiece express a whole theology in depth, intended to instruct people, who on its largest part was illiterate. In the present work is described all the iconographic-theological reading that appears in the Baroque  work of art, carried out in wood
