“Truth or weak faith?” Reflections on a dialogue

Pablo Ruíz Lozano

Abstract

The author proposes a reflection about secularization and relativism, setting off from the dialogue between Gianni Vattimo and René Girard in the work Truth or weak faith? Dialogue on Christianity and relativism. The question being raised is whether starting from the scapegoat hypothesis, its revelation and its influence in human culture, such as it is understood by the French anthropologist, it is possible for us to go on speaking about God, about truth, and whether it is possible to face the future of humanity without violence. This question tackles, in some way, the issues, so many times manifested by the previous Pontifex, Benedict XVI, about truth, and the dangers of relativism in present day society.
