Abstract

The author offers a study of the Christological work of the Jesuit theologian José Ignacio González Faus, from a concrete formal perspective. That perspective is defined by the searching of God’s image that underlies in the form in which this author understands Christ’s Passion. It is retaken here the so called theology of the cross, although not as a current of theological thinking, but as a dimension which may be explored in every Christian theology. Likewise, the relation is shown between the passion of Christ, image of God, and the message of hope that Christianity can offer vis-à-vis a human history, in which suffering reaches an unbelievable density.
