Mystical experience between duality and non-duality

Abstract

It’s winning ground, in the field of spirituality, the Eastern concept of non-dualism. That is: of a relation with the ultimate reality through which, a fusion, an identity and a dissolution of the ego is sought for. This understanding, however, clashes with the approach of the Western religious tradition, in which the concept of person has, in a nuclear way, marked the concept of the human being and of God. Then, the issue is raised of, up to what point, the new proposal of non-duality should impose itself in the relation with God, or whether the dualist and non-dualist approaches, should both of them be called to be played down, fostering so a dialogue which would avoid all kinds of ideological imperialism imposed by the dominant trends.
