Abstract

This work deals with the meaning and evolution of the so-called liberal theology and its philosophical roots. Especially with Hegel´s influence on the protestant New Tübingen School, as expression of that movement during the nineteenth and the first quarter o the twentieth century in Germany. After analyzing the stages and most outstanding authors of liberal theology and, within it, of the said School, a synthesis of the thought of Hegel is made, especially on religion and Christianity. On this basis, we trace its presence in some authors of the Tübingen School, in particular in its founder F.C. Baur.
