Abstract
This article presents the results of the doctoral research entitled “The Incarnation in the theological and philosophical thought of Francisco Suárez” (Granada, 2021). In the context of a reevaluation of the thought of the Eximio in modernity, his theological development of the mystery of the Incarnation acquires special importance. The research establishes the hermeneutical context of this problem; it proves that for the Conimbricense it would be impossible to access the notion of subsistence without the revelation of the Incarnation and establishes that it extends metaphysics with respect to the notion of 'person': a decisive extension for a new understanding of modern subjectivity.
