Axiomas suarecianos sobre el acto y la potencia
Main Article Content
Abstract
Despite the numerous studies committed to Francisco Suárez’s metaphysics, much remains to be discovered about his thought. One of the most prominent Suárez scholars, José Hellín Lasheras (1883-1973), devoted tremendous efforts to researching the role of some critical metaphysical notions in Suárez’s system, focusing on the notions of potency and act. In this unpublished text, we find some axioms that give support to (and proceed from) Suárez’s conception of these notions, standing out among them his rejection of the explanatory capacity of the scholastic axiom “quidquid movetur ab alio movetur” and his defence of the active-passive character o the will.
