Spiritual care in the Society of Jesus through correspondence (1556-1560)

Abstract
From 1556 to 1560, Fr. Diego Laínez and his secretary, Fr. Polanco, engaged in constant correspondence with Jesuits stationed in various missions of the Society of Jesus. In these five volumes of letters, published in the Lainii Monumenta, one can see how the Society’s governance showed interest in the spiritual health of her members. This study extracts that data from the letters and attempts to demonstrate how spiritual care was given according to the conditions and situations of each person, taking into account the spiritual legacy left behind by Ignatius of Loyola.
